Live Video Broadcast - Scaling Live Video Events
Qumu provides flexible management of live events including support for both multicast and unicast networks whether or not the customer is using a CDN as part of the video infrastructure. Qumu integrates with and leverages enterprise CDN technologies such as Cisco ACNS, BlueCoat, NetCache and Stratacache to scale live events out to viewers in locations throughout the corporate network and in remote offices. Additionally, Qumu’s Media Net module provides automated media delivery services for customers who are not using a CDN or who have CDN only in main offices and need to include users in more remote locations.
Reporting
Qumu provides comprehensive reporting for live events, including the monitoring of server bandwidth utilization as well as client connections during a live event. Reports can be run while a live event is mid-broadcast to see how many viewers are currently connected. Similarly, post-event reports can be run to show viewer attendance and the presentation percentage completion for each viewer. Summary reports are also available by channel to include all events within that channel over a defined period of time.
Dynamic Program Browser and Event Calendar
Qumu provides an out-of-the-box program browser for the media viewer with access to programs based on rights control via LDAP integration or through the Qumu Video Control Center user management. The interface includes a live event calendar that is updated dynamically when new events are scheduled. The calendar provides linkage to desktop calendar systems so reminders can be automatically generated by systems such as Outlook. The program browser also includes a system generated URL, to which users are directed whenever a program is requested for viewing, which protects the actual location of the video stream.
Live to VOD Transition Management
Qumu automatically generates a video-on-demand program when a live event is closed, and creates a proposed VOD distribution schema based on the live event distribution. Editing tools are provided as part of Live Event Pro to perform standard trims, slide transition timing changes, chaptering edits and captioning prior to posting the VOD program for viewing.
