Qumu Inc. Launches Livecaster, Giving Control And Flexibility To Distributed Webcast Presenters

Enterprise Video Communications Leader Introduces Software-based Presentation Tool as Part of Latest Release of Qumu Solution

BERKELEY, CALIFORNIA (March 23, 2006) - Media Publisher Inc., the leader in Enterprise Video Communications, today announced that it is introducing LiveCaster, a new product that makes it easy for executives and distributed presenters to deliver enterprise video webcasts. LiveCaster, which is packaged with the 4.3 release of Qumu's enterprise video solution, allows webcast presenters to capture and deliver slides, images, web pages and other documents - without the need for special hardware or advanced technical expertise.

Using LiveCaster, a presenter can add any material on his or her computer - for example, PowerPoint slides, Web pages, and photos - to the webcast automatically, and without advance preparation or involvement from IT. The LiveCaster software captures images of the presenter's actual computer screen during a webcast (at intervals set by the presenter), and delivers the captured "slides" as part of the webcast.

The introduction of LiveCaster extends the footprint of Qumu's enterprise video solution, making business video reliable, secure, easy to use, and cost-effective. Qumu offers a market-tested and mature suite of applications, and a Video Control Center that interoperates with a company's existing infrastructure.

"Enterprise video has become an efficient and cost-effective way for companies to communicate with thousands of people, both inside and outside of the organization," said Rod Bacon, president and CEO of Qumu Inc. "However, technical complexities often prevent business users from taking advantage of these benefits because webcasts can require a big investment in training time and support from IT. LiveCaster eliminates these complexities, and puts control of the webcast in the hands of the presenter."

LiveCaster operates from a desktop or laptop computer and requires only a standard webcam, giving business users the flexibility to deliver a presentation from any location with Internet access. Because the images captured by LiveCaster are part of the same data stream as the webcast (instead of two separate streams), transmission is improved significantly and separate streams do not have to be managed by the content distribution network.
