Sales Engineer - New York
The Sales Engineer (SE) will work with Account Executives to develop new business on software and solutions offered by Qumu. The Sales Engineer must work in a consultative role to understand customer needs and align them with a solution architected around the company’s enterprise software platform and applications. One must be able to clearly and persuasively communicate, via written work and oral presentations, a tailored message detailing the benefits of Qumu’s offerings to audiences ranging from network engineers to senior executives. In addition to working directly with Qumu’s Sales, Business Development, and Marketing teams to effectively communicate the value of the Enterprise Video Communications (both functionally and technically) to prospective partners and customers, this role will provide key feedback from the field to Product Management to enhance future product offerings.
Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership in the sales process in tandem with the Qumu’s Account Executives, providing consulting and direct business domain expertise
- Present and demonstrate Qumu’s product offerings tailored to customer objectives
- Aid in responding to RFP/RFIs, and the creation of business cases and proposals
- Manage proof of concept and pilot engagements to ensure technical selection
- Become a trusted advisor to prospects in helping them understand the video communications landscape
- Make solution architecture recommendations based upon a clear understanding of customer requirements and existing infrastructure
- Facilitate the client transition from Sales to the Qumu’s Professional and Customer Services teams
- Provide feedback to Qumu’s Product Management team related to client and industry needs discovered during the sales process
- Consistent and complete customer follow-up
- Travel up to 50%
Desired Skills:
- Excellent verbal, written, presentation and interpersonal communication skills
- Understanding of and experience working with 3-tier web application architectures
- Proficiency in basic web programming languages (HTML, XML, JavaScript)
- Working knowledge of directory services (LDAP, Microsoft Active Directory)
- Understanding of general networking concepts
- Working knowledge of streaming media technologies (Microsoft Windows Media, Flash, MPEG)
- Experience working with Video Teleconferencing or Digital Signage solutions a plus
Education / Experience:
- BS in a technical field (i.e. Computer Science or equivalent)
- 7+ years experience in technology / consulting / software industry
- 3+ Years experience as a Sales Engineer selling enterprise software
